About

Gig Buddies enables adults with a learning disability to live an active social life. We do this by pairing members to like minded volunteers to enjoy their shared passion together. We also work with a wide range of venues and arts organisations to make local events more welcoming for people with a learning disability.

In this role, you'll build a good relationship with the person you are paired with to get a really good understanding of what gigs they might like to go to and help the person with a learning disability to make decisions about what kind of gigs they’d like to go to. You'll also help your buddy develop a social network by regularly attending Gig Buddies social events. You don’t need any previous experience to be a Gig Buddy! As long as you have good communication skills, are friendly, kind, patient, and have a passion for getting out to events, we would like to hear from you! We need people who will help us ensure that people with a learning disability are enabled to live active social lives and make their own choices in how they live. We ask that you are happy to meet with your buddy roughly once a month. You’ll need to be willing to help arrange the gigs that you and your buddy go to and be willing to attend our online induction training. This will get you feeling prepared and confident in your new role!
