It is important to the Students’ Association that every nomination made to our Student Awards holds as much value as the next. For this reason, our judging process is purely focused on the content of each individual nomination and not on the number of nominations received. We have mapped how we judged the nominations below.
Stage 1 - Initial Screening
The Students’ Assocation team will complete a screening process to ensure nominations are eligible. Any nominations that don’t include practical examples or are not in-keeping with the spirit of the awards will be considered incomplete. Anonymisation will also happen at this stage.
Stage 2 - Scoring Panel Criteria for Shortlisting
The shortlisting panel for the Student Awards is made up of staff members from the Student Engagement and Students’ Association team who have had no other involvement in the awards process. These panels were sent all the relevant nominations that had been through the first screening and anonymisation.
For the awards, the panel is asked to rate each nomination based on how best the nomination demonstrates the college’s core values.
- Inspiration - Rate 1 – 4
- Excellence– Rate 1 – 4
- Innovation – Rate 1 – 4
Each of the panellists' scores were collated and the top nominations passed to the next stage.
Stage 3 (Student Awards- Scoring Panel for Final Winner)
Following the quantitative process at stage 2, the final panel, made up of senior members of staff from the Student Experience Directorate, will adopt a more qualitative approach by considering questions such as:
- Which nomination makes you feel most proud to work with students at the City of Glasgow College?
- Which nomination generates an emotional response from you?
Each member of the panel rates the shortlisted nominations in order of preference. These scores are collated to find the final winners.
