Student Sport update (March 28th)

Recreational Clubs

Our recreational clubs consist of volleyball on Mondays, basketball on Tuesdays, and badminton on Thursdays.  These clubs run weekly, are free of charge and are open to all abilities.  You can sign up and/or find out more information by choosing the relevant sport icon below.  Believe it or not, the first step to joining a club is the hardest part.  Once you’ve got by the hurdle of signing up and turning up, things just happen naturally and habits form naturally.  Get involved folks!  All recreational sports clubs will run up to and including w/c 6th of June.

Competitive Teams

The Scottish Student Sport College Cup Finals day is the biggest day on the competitive sport calendar for City of Glasgow College.  In previous years, we have taken home several bronzes, silver and gold medals, finishing runners up to Edinburgh College from 2014-2019 (no events ran in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19).   Finals day has now been confirmed and will be taking place on Wednesday April 27th in Edinburgh at the Oriam Performance Centre.

If you are interested in trialling for any of our teams, read on to find out which events/sports are taking place and then register your details!  Please note, men’s football and basketball already have existing squads and we are at maximum capacity.

Alumni Student Testimonials

‘I joined the college female basketball team when I studied HND Coaching and Development in 2018/2019. We managed to win 3 games in BUCS and reach the final of the SSS College Cup. I have made lifelong friendships from taking part in this team. I would recommend joining a club at the college’ – former HND Coaching and Development student

‘I took part in the college badminton club in 2019/2020. I came along to the club and was really nervous and didn’t think I would take part in more than 1 session! I ended up loving it and decided to fit it into my weekly routine at the college. I honestly can say this club helped me so much to remain focused on my studies at college’ – former HND Marine Engineering student
