Big Student Elections 2024

Your Students’ Association is here for all students at the College and so each year we hold elections for the positions of Student President (full time, paid position) and Vice Presidents (part time, paid positions) to represent your views.

The polls have closed.

Student President

The role of Student President is demanding and rewarding. You will lead the Students’ Association, aiming to improve the student experience for every student at College.

Work closely with college partners and fellow students to help the Students’ Association grow and function well.

Your main goal will be to support student voices, lead the Student Parliament in important areas, and represent students locally and nationally.

  • Salary: £28,784 
  • Time Commitment: Full Time Position (35 hours per week)

 

What You'll Do:   

  • Lead and Inspire: Offer guidance to Vice Presidents, Student Parliament members, Class Representatives, and the wider student community.    

  • Champion Student Voices: Represent students at important meetings and work with the National Union of Students to influence policies and campaigns.  

  • Empower Representation: Ensure effective systems are in place for student representation, including Class and Faculty Ambassadors, and external audits. 

  • Gather Feedback: Ensure all student opinions are heard and used to enhance the college experience.   

  • Promote Engagement: Support the organisation of activities, events, clubs, and societies to enrich student life.   

  • Effective Communication: Keep students updated and involved through engaging communication methods and promotional activities.   

 What You’ll Focus On: 

  • Full Member of the College Board of Management and relevant sub-committees.  

  • Attend working groups and other collaborative spaces to provide student feedback. 

  • Support the Students’ Association team in achieving their annual plan of work, with key priorities identified by students via Parliament, Class Reps and Annual General Meeting votes.  

  • Contribute to reports on the Students’ Association’s progress and achievements.

Vice President Diversity & Wellbeing

The Vice President Diversity and Wellbeing will work with students and SA staff on areas related to diversity and student wellbeing, ensuring that all students at City are effectively represented and their mental and physical wellbeing is promoted and championed.

Work on intersectional liberation campaigns and events that enhance the student experience.  

  • Salary: £26,532 (pro-rata.) £14.58 per hour.
  • Time Commitment: 14 hours per week (flexible around your studies – core hours will be between   9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday)

What You'll Do: 

As Vice President, you’ll play a key role in shaping the Students’ Association’s impact. Working alongside the Student President, you will: 

  • Champion Student Voices: Represent student views at college meetings, workstreams, and National Union of Students (NUS) initiatives. 

  • Strengthen Representation: Support effective systems for student engagement, ensuring all students have a platform to share their opinions. 

  • Enhance Wellbeing & Inclusion: Work with fellow students and college partners to develop liberation initiatives, events, and activities that support student wellbeing. 

  • Boost Student Life: Help organise events and campaigns that are accessible, diverse, and student led. 

  • Effective Communication: Use social media and internal platforms to keep students informed and engaged with the Students’ Association. 

What You’ll Focus On: 

  • Collaborate with college partners and students on exciting projects and campaigns, including attending working groups. 

  • Respond to Student Feedback regarding issues and ideas that are important to them. 

  • Contribute to reports on Students’ Association activity and achievements.

Vice President Learning & Teaching

The Vice President Learning and Teaching will work with students and SA staff on areas related to the student learning experience, ensuring that student feedback is used effectively to improve learning and teaching.

Represent your peers and make student life better through the leadership role of Vice President of Learning and Teaching.  

  • Salary: £26,532 (pro-rata.) £14.58 per hour.
  • Time Commitment: 14 hours per week (flexible around your studies – core hours will be between   9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday)

What You'll Do: 

As Vice President, you’ll play a key role in shaping the Students’ Association’s impact. Working alongside the Student President, you will: 

  • Champion Student Voices: Represent students at key college meetings, working groups, and National Union of Students (NUS) initiatives. 

  • Empower Representation: Ensure effective systems are in place for student representation, including Class and Faculty Ambassadors, and external audits.

  • Actively engage with students from diverse backgrounds to gather opinions and advocate for their needs. 

  • Collaborate with college staff and partners on shared projects and campaigns, including attending working groups.  

  • Support the planning and delivery of events, societies, and extracurricular opportunities. 

  • Contribute to reports on the Students’ Association’s progress and achievements.

The Vice President Social and Activities will work towards ensuring that students have a college experience they never forget! Making new friends and trying new activities is a big part of college and enhancing this will be a big part of your role.

Create exciting, inclusive, and engaging college experiences for students.

  • Time Commitment: 14 hours per week (flexible around your studies – core hours will be between   9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday)

What You'll Do: 

As Vice President, you’ll play a key role in shaping the Students’ Association’s impact. Working alongside the Student President, you will:

  • Enhance Representation: Support effective structures for student representation, ensuring every voice is heard. 

  • Foster Community: Help deliver a vibrant array of clubs, societies, and activities that are accessible and inclusive. 

  • Boost Communication: Use social media and internal platforms to promote Students’ Association activities and keep students informed. 

What You’ll Focus On: 

  • Collaborate with college partners and students on exciting projects and campaigns, including attending working groups. 

  • Deliver key Students’ Association events, such as Freshers. 

  • Respond to student feedback regarding what activities they would like to engage with. 

  • Provide leadership to student volunteers. 

  • Contribute to reports on the Students’ Association’s progress and achievements.
