Collaboration, Communication, Community for City Students!
Previously I have been President of Learning & Teaching for 2 years at Glasgow Kelvin College where I have gained so much experience and knowledge that I would love to bring to this role.
At Kelvin I worked with our IT department to improve digital access for students, overhaulded our class representative system by bringing in better training and providing them with dedicated spaces, reducing the stigma of period poverty and providing free sustainable sanitary products, and improving access to mental health support.
Currently I am the Vice Chair of the Glasgow Student Forum representing over 100,000 students in the Glasgow region. This year we’ve successfully campaigned alongside NUS Scotland for over £30 million to lessen hardship, improve student mental health, and fight digital poverty.
No one likes seeing MyCity down! I want to champion a digital transformation strategy that would see us move from using Moodle and Zoom to a platform like Microsoft Teams which would be much more robust and secure benefiting students and staff.
I would also like to bring in a regular feedback system for class representatives to ensure that everyone’s views are being heard. I would also want to provide specific spaces and events for representatives.
Outside of the college I want to continue lobbying for more funding from the Government through the Glasgow Student Forum and the political links I’ve built up to ensure you get the best education possible as your Vice President of Learning & Teaching!
