What is the Volunteer Ventures Fund?
CitySA are delighted to launch Volunteer Ventures Fund, funded by the Nairn Family Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply for up to £200 of funding to run an event or project that engages student volunteers and benefits the community. Students are invited to apply as individuals or as groups.
Applications for Volunteer Ventures Fund will open on Monday 9th December and will close on Monday 27th January at 12 noon.
The date of your event or project is flexible: you can run them anytime from your initial meeting until the 30th of April.
What kinds of projects will be funded?
Any project that benefits the community and engages student volunteers will be considered – we encourage you to be as creative as you like!
Projects will be scored on how well they match the following criteria:
- Benefits the local community, engages with a non-profit organisation, or raises money for a cause
- Actively engages at least 5 student volunteers
- Promotes inclusive volunteering and creates a positive experience for volunteers

To gain support with your Volunteer Ventures Fund application, come along to one of our workshops to learn more about the application process:
These workshops will help you maximise your chances of being selected by outlining what we’re looking for in each section of the application form and how the applications are scored. You will also have the opportunity to discuss and develop your ideas and ask any questions you may have.
Support available if your application is successful:
If your proposal is accepted, you will receive support in the form of check ins. You will be offered three check ins throughout the planning of your project:
- Check In 1 - Support in the initial stages to develop and stick to a work plan
- Check In 2 - A check-in at the halfway point to make sure you’re on track for delivery and troubleshoot any issues
- Check In 3 - Ahead of delivery, a final opportunity to discuss the project and make any finishing tweaks
