While we celebrate LGBTQIA+ History Month, we’re passionate about ensuring our liberation campaigns aren’t just performative action.

We believe that all students should be able to come to college without worrying about discrimination, food insecurity, or poverty. However, we also recognise that some students are more at risk of experiencing these issues than others.

At the Students’ Association, we recognise that the issues students face are complex and intersectional. We believe that to tackle these issues effectively, we must ensure that the campaigns and proposals we make recognise how all these issues are tied together.

The below stats show why it’s essential to take an intersectional approach when supporting students.

Creating intersectional campaigns, policies, and procedures ensures we’re making impactful change for everyone.

Intersectionality is important because it means we include groups that are often marginalised and overlooked. Ensuring that our approaches help these groups is the first step to creating a fairer and more equitable environment for everyone.

Learn about the different things we’re doing and forms of support on offer for these areas on our Advice Hub.
