Striving for sustainability is more easily said than done. We have gathered the 4 steps you need to do to accomplish an eco-friendly use of energy while on campus.
Step 1: Turn off the PC and Monitor when not using it
This is a very simple, step but easy to forget. Take your time when leaving the classroom, and check you have switched everything off. It also helps if you remember why you are doing this, you are saving energy, resources, and reducing carbon emissions.
Step 2: Turn off the lights if there is enough natural daylight in the room
This is a group action and your chance to take the initiative! Be mindful to ask your classmates. If you need to keep the lights on, remember to turn them off when you leave the room.
Step 3: Take the stairs
This is a step in the right direction, whether you want to save energy or you want some exercise.
Step 4: Be kind to yourself
Don’t be too hard on yourself if you forget any of the steps. Practice makes perfect so keep trying and eventually you will be doing them without realising.
