Record your activities by hitting the ‘start’ button each time you head out for some exercise. Make sure you first select the correct sport/icon, by pressing the activity type above the start button (run or ride). As mentioned on our main website page, you need to select ‘run’, even if you are going a walk or hike! This is really important so that your miles are counted on our leaderboard!
Yes, you can manually upload activities to your Strava account. This also includes indoor biking. To add an indoor bike activity manually, please ensure you select the correct sport type – ‘ride’. You can then input your time and miles done. For more information, see details here and click on ‘add an activity manually’
By recording and then subsequently saving your activity, Strava automatically uploads and shows a map of your starting/finishing location, which others in the private group can potentially access if they wanted to. If this is a concern, see details here on how to create a privacy zone. Also, you can go onto ‘settings’ and ‘privacy controls’ for some more features you may find helpful.
As long as you are on our private Strava group, this will automatically be uploaded and you do not need to do anything else. You can title your activity, add a description as well as photographs if you want to. Remember, we also have a private Facebook group that you and your team members can join.
Yes, this is ok, we would just require you to enter both challenges on the online google form. Likewise, if a team’s main activity happens to be running, and 1 or 2 of the members do a bit of cycling, these miles will also count. It is however important to note that there will be 2 SEPARATE leaderboards generated for each of the challenges.
As team captain, your main responsibilities include being the main point of contact and key motivator for your team. You should receive an weekly email (usually on Monday’s) from Andrew Kirk, which will update you on the current standings of all the teams, including the leaderboards, and some more information about fun challenges you can opt into if you want to. It should however be noted that similar updates will also go out on the private Facebook and Strava groups.
Yes, there will be prizes, and we will confirm this information to the winning teams upon completion of the challenge at the end of February. We can confirm at this stage the prizes will NOT be vouchers!
