This month we are honouring Black History Month. We aim to raise awareness and understanding of Black history among students and staff and hope that we can encourage everyone to celebrate Black history and culture.
We will be celebrating the month with a range of events and resources, including a Riverside film night on Thursday 3rd and an Afro Fusion cooking demonstration with Laurette Foko on Thursday 10th.
There are many more events in and around Glasgow throughout the month, highlighted in our Black History Month calendar. Celebrate the month with activities such as tours, panels and writing groups, or check out the many resources and playlists on offer.
The theme this year is Reclaiming Narratives, focusing on individuals taking control of their own stories, celebrating heritage and ensuring all Black voices are heard and valued. To celebrate the theme, we are running an essay competition where we want to hear about the ways you have corrected your narrative. Submissions are open until Wednesday 23rd.
You can also join us in celebrating Black History Month with our Students' Association's 'Top 3' lists. We've handpicked our favorite restaurants, creative artists, and more - showcasing the rich diversity and talent within our community.
