As part of our Cost-of-Living Campaign, CitySA will be focussing on the impact of the increase in energy prices. Throughout the UK, students are already struggling financially, and we want to support the students at City of Glasgow College to demand the changes they need from the Government in the face of energy price hikes.
We’ll be providing updates on available support to students as well as opportunities to get involved in energy-related campaigns.
College Support for you
If you’re struggling to make ends meet and are already receiving the maximum SAAS loan or Bursary available to you, you can apply for the College Hardship Fund. You can find more information about here:
https://www.cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk/student-funding/hardship-funds
If you need help filling out the application, or want more information, you can contact the Student Advisors directly at studentadvisors@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk.
Warm Welcomes
While we know that this isn’t a permanent solution, we’ve created a map of places that can be used as warm banks.
This interactive map includes places where you can either buy food/drinks to use their facilities as a place to stay warm, or facilities which you can use for free- including the College and College Libraries.
We’ll be updating this map regularly.
Energy Cost Calculator
GoCompare have developed an interactive energy cost calculator tool to find out how much something costs to run. Use the calculator below to pick the appliances you want to compare and select how long they’ll be in use for.

Get Involved
Keep an eye on our Events page for information about local protests, community events, and workshops that you can get involved in to channel your frustration into positive change for you and others.
